I am currently working in a public library as a Youth Librarian - 5 branches, huge collection and budget. Previous experience in primary and secondary schools as both TL and Officer, plus TAFE. I've side-stepped to the Public environment because it gives me more people contact at the librarian level. Subject teachers do not willingly hand over their classes unless you have good teaching street cred!
About Me:
I have a BIG commitment to literacy and the community. I work very hard to engage families, and to support young people outside of school. I am currently working on a baby and books program. This is my first full-time, ongoing job in 18 years - part-time positions just didn't give me enough opportunity to make a difference. Now I can get in there and do the job!

I am the only voice for the 0-18 year olds at my branch

Good to see you are jumping on board this opportunity for T/Ls to communicate and discuss what matters to us as professionals. I couldn't agree more with your profile. I'm glad you are enjoying the new job. Mine still has its 'issues' but overall progress is being made - and we all know that in a school situation that is a real plus.
Hi Julie, Great to have you on board. Your unique perspective will no doubt enrich our group. Also great to have another familiar face and another 'Jewel'! Congratulations on the full time job. I hope you do get to make some influencing decisions.
