So true!!!

My biggest challenge is getting classroom teachers to USE it! I guess my school is typical - some staff are really tech literate, where others can use Word and check their emails (sometimes). Each classroom now has a 'pod' of 5 computers, but most are collecting dust (sigh!), other than letting the kids 'play games' during their 'spare time'.

How do we get teachers using technology as a TOOL - just like they do books and pens - and not as a 'subject'??? I work with the kids through the Info Skills program - but they're not utilising the skills outside their time with me.

Starting term 3 I plan to start 'upping' teachers' skills, then show them aroung the world of Web2. My current 'plan' is to:
- do a quick session at the start of each Staff Meeting (to show what software we've got and what it can do, and online sites/Web2 possibilities etc).
- then 'book' times with teams who want to use something with their class.
- 'encourage' them to make use of it all on a daily basis in their classroom programs.

Has anyone headed into a plan similar to this? If so - pearls of wisdom would be GRATEFULLY accepted ... ideas/what NOT to do/good places to begin .........

Cheers,

Angela

I saw this video recently and thought some of it might be of interest to this group. I was impressed by the fact that they weren't all American but an international bunch of narrators.
